In the United States, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was enacted in July 2010 based on the concern that the use of mineral resources originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries could indirectly support inhumane acts in the region. The Act includes provisions concerning minerals originating from the DRC and adjoining countries and requires U.S.-listed companies to report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) whether their products contain conflict minerals.
Although the JCM Group is not listed on any U.S. stock exchange, the Group respects the intent of this law and, in order to fulfill its role in the supply chain, promotes the prohibition of conflict minerals that are indirectly associated with human rights abuses, environmental destruction, corruption, and other illegal activities.
The JCM Group complies with laws and regulations concerning conflict minerals and requests that its suppliers report on the use of conflict minerals contained in the raw materials, parts, units, and other components of its products. The Group strives to clearly communicate and ensure awareness of its policy prohibiting the use of such minerals and continues its efforts toward conflict-mineral-free products.
